Description
In Key West, FL. Cuban Refugees come to the shores looking for freedom almost daily. From what I understand if they make it, and touch foot on US soil (sand) they're allowed to stay. Check out my other shots in this series to see what families will endure for freedoms a lot of us take for granted.

has it been that long since the mariel exodus? of was the boat like that when it came from cuba? either way it's a historic image
Bob Slitzan replied:
I think it's pretty much the way it came to shore. It's been weathered from sitting there on display. I think about how many people were squeezed in for the 90 mile trip.

Go back next time and find some refugees to add to the collection..could be a great showing.
Bob Slitzan replied:
Thanks Joe, your right, could be a good show. The only problem is, as ecletic as my work is, and in the many years, I never do well with shooting people. But I might give it another try.

Very thought provoking regarding the full life of this vessel. Like your composition too

Thanks Chris. Coming 90 miles from Cuba in this boat to get to freedom that a lot of us take for granted.
